Readathon 2022-04-07Readathon 2022

Readathon is all about reading for pleasure and raising money for children in hospital at the same time. This year we raised £624.00 which will go towards new books for children’s wards in local hospitals and for readers who need that little extra help.

Here are some comments from students who took part:

“It opens your eyes to a brand new world on paper – a wonderful experience” Will G

“I really enjoyed it and had lots of fun. I also learnt some new things” Isabelle P

“I think Readathon was a good way to get me reading more often. I got my family to sponsor me and I really enjoyed challenging myself to read the full book! Sophie M

“I enjoyed reading these books and taking part in Readathon” Marvin F

“Readathon was great to take part in. I raised money for a great cause and found some cool new authors” Milly H

The extra bonus for IGS is that the library receives 20% of the total in Scholastic book vouchers. So it’s a win all round!

We ran Readathon for both Years 7 and 8 to coincide with World Book Day on 3rd March. There were quizzes in form time and a treasure hunt with prizes in the library at break and lunchtime.

Well done to everyone who took part in either or both of these fun events!
